The Texas State University System (TSUS) Foundation has named two 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ standouts among the recipients of its 2025 Regents’ Awards, recognizing exceptional contributions to their campus, community, and the state.
Ester Holloman, administrative assistant for university advancement, received the Regents’ Staff Excellence Award, which honors staff members for commitment to the university and its mission, job competency, collegiality, service, community involvement, and exceptional achievements.
“I was very surprised,” Holloman said. “I’ve always felt Lamar has been my extended family. When I first came to Lamar, I knew nobody, but people like Ms. H.C. Galloway—one of the first who took me under her wing and made me welcome—and then my professors, Mr. Titus, Kelvin Smith, Madelyn Hunt, Mary Alice Baker, and many more made an impact in me getting my degree. I thank God for everyone.”
Mohamed Irhabi, a junior majoring in biology and chemistry and a member of the Reaud Honors College, received the Regents’ Student Scholar Award, which recognizes students for outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and contributions to their institution and community. He serves as president of the Mixed Martial Arts Club, vice president of both the Muslim Student Association and the Helping Hands Club, officer in the American Medical Student Association, and an ambassador for 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳.
“Receiving the TSUS Regents’ Student Scholar Award is an incredible honor and a meaningful milestone in my academic journey,” Irhabi said. “The opportunities I’ve had at Lamar, through research, service, and mentorship, have shaped my academic and professional growth in ways I never imagined. I’m proud to represent 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ and the state of Texas, and I am grateful to the individuals who have supported me every step of the way.”
Established in 2007, the Regents’ Awards honor faculty, staff, and students from TSUS member institutions who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and achievement. Regents’ Professor and Student Scholar award winners will be recognized at the November 2025 Board of Regents meeting in Huntsville. Regents’ Teacher and Staff Excellence award winners will be honored at the February 2026 meeting in Beaumont.
