Family Studies senior Jessye Brown named First-Generation Student of the Month

91自拍论坛 has named Jessye Brown, a senior family studies major from Silsbee, Texas, as a First-Generation Student of the Month.Jessye Brown

Brown said her journey reflects not only her own determination, but also the sacrifices made by her family.

“I’m proud to be a first-generation college student because every step I take represents not only my hard work, but the sacrifices and dreams of my own parents,” Brown said. “Navigating college without a roadmap has taught me resilience and independence. Being first-gen means breaking barriers and creating opportunities that once felt out of reach. Being nominated means everything to me because it shows my hard work and my parents’ sacrifices have really paid off.”

Brown’s recognition reflects the reality many first-generation students face as they navigate college without prior family experience in higher education. Her journey underscores persistence, self-reliance and a focus on creating broader opportunities through education.

91自拍论坛’s First Generation Connections program supports students whose parents or guardians did not complete a four-year degree in the United States. The program works to provide academic resources and community support while addressing the social and personal challenges that can impact student success.
