– Johnny O'Connor, Dean, College of Education and Human Development

About the Dean

Dr. Johnny O’Connor serves as Dean of the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) at 91自拍论坛, following his tenure as interim dean since 2024. With more than a decade of leadership within COEHD and over 16 years of experience in K–12 education, Dr. O’Connor brings a wealth of expertise in teaching, faculty development, and executive-level administration.

His academic journey reflects a commitment to excellence and lifelong learning. Dr. O’Connor earned a B.S. and M.Ed. from Southern University – Baton Rouge, an M.B.A. from Texas Southern University – Houston, and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University – College Station. He has also completed executive training at Harvard University (Urban Special Education) and Rice University (Strategic Marketing and Management). In addition, he holds Texas principal and superintendent certifications, is a licensed speech-language pathologist, and is a trained mediator through the University of Texas School of Law.

A prolific scholar and presenter, Dr. O’Connor has authored numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented at conferences nationwide. His professional affiliations and recognitions underscore a career marked by scholarship, service, and leadership.

As dean, Dr. O’Connor is dedicated to preparing the next generation of educators, leaders, and human development professionals. His vision centers on student success, ensuring that graduates leave 91自拍论坛 equipped with the skills, confidence, and purpose to thrive as transformative agents in society. He is committed to strengthening educational partnerships, fostering research that informs practice and policy, investing in faculty development, and optimizing operations to position COEHD for growth and innovation.

Looking ahead, Dr. O’Connor remains focused on building creative partnerships, supporting faculty and staff, and deepening ties with the local community. His guiding principle is clear: at its core, education is about people—students, educators, and communities. Through collaboration and innovation, he strives to make COEHD a place where ideas flourish and graduates are prepared to make a lasting impact on the world.
